Cloud content management company Box said on April 2 it has officially launched its AI agent, Box Agent, for Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced customers.

Box Agent is an AI feature that searches and analyses enterprise files through natural-language commands and generates content. It operates within Box’s existing security and permissions system. It is based on models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

Box co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie (아론 레비) said, "AI can fully realize its potential only when it understands an organization’s unique context, and that context is in contracts, research materials and financial documents." The company said Box Agent handles complex multi-step tasks in a single flow. It interprets natural-language queries, finds relevant files, extracts key data and produces structured results. It supports output formats including Box Notes, Word documents, PDFs, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint decks.

Box Agent can be used across multiple departments. Legal teams can compare contracts with standard playbooks, procurement teams can process large invoices, and sales teams can automate responses to requests for proposals. Marketing teams can draft on-brand content based on existing brand guidelines.

Box Agent is designed to recognize user permission systems. Users can access only files they are authorised to access, and the company stressed that customer data is not used to train external large language models.

Box AI Studio was also updated. With the update, administrators can configure custom agents tailored to specific business rules and datasets. Under the Enterprise Advanced plan, users can also use Pro Mode, an advanced reasoning feature, and Expanded Mode, which processes large volumes of content with a single prompt.
