Singer Sung Si-kyung (성시경) has succeeded in a strict diet ahead of a cosmetics modelling campaign, as KBS2’s music entertainment show “The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung’s Eardrum Boyfriend” aired after its title stirred controversy even before broadcast.
In the ENA drama “Climax”, a kiss scene between actors Ha Ji-won (하지원) and Nana (나나) drew attention, while upcoming MBC drama “The 21st Century Grand Prince’s Wife” is raising expectations.
After the lookalike pairing of Han Ga-in (한가인) and Kim Dong-jun (김동준), attention also focused on NCT’s Jaemin (재민) and actor Namgoong Min (남궁민), while male solo artists’ comeback schedules drew global K-pop fans’ interest.
• Sung Si-kyung becomes cosmetics model... reveals why he decided to diet
Sung said candidly why he started losing weight and shared an update on how he has been doing.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, he said, “I’ve lost a lot of weight lately. I’ve been managing it for over a month by combining exercise and diet.” He added, “I became a cosmetics model, and I didn’t want to cause trouble or be laughed at,” explaining what led him to decide to diet.
Sung said, “A lot of people laugh when I tell them I became a model.” He added, “During the contract period, I want to maintain a model-like appearance. I have to manage it so my weight doesn’t suddenly go up,” showing a sense of responsibility.
Toward the end, Sung said, “It was also burdensome to become a cosmetics model at this age, but I thought it was a good opportunity so I worked hard.” He added, “Now that I’ve come into a normal weight range, I want to maintain it in a healthy way going forward.”
KBS2’s “The Seasons” also returned for a new season and met viewers with “Sung Si-kyung’s Eardrum Boyfriend,” putting Sung at the forefront. Interest intensified further as controversy over the programme title grew ahead of the first broadcast.
• Starting off with criticism, ‘Sung Si-kyung’s Eardrum Boyfriend’... can it prove itself with results?
Sung bowed his head at a production presentation for “Sung Si-kyung’s Eardrum Boyfriend” held at the KBS Art Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and mentioned that he had set the programme’s subtitle himself. He said, “It is a title decided after discussing it several times with the production team, but the part that became controversial is ultimately my responsibility,” and added, “I am sorry for causing discomfort.” He added, “Because I was confident in the content itself, I approached the title lightly, but I should have been more careful.”
Some viewers had raised criticism over the previously revealed expression “Eardrum Boyfriend”, saying it did not fit the times. The production team explained its intention, saying, “We wanted to attract viewers’ attention amid countless pieces of content,” and asked people to focus on the essence of the programme.
Despite the controversy, the first broadcast opened with a star-studded lineup. The first episode of “Sung Si-kyung’s Eardrum Boyfriend” featured Lee So-ra (이소라), YB, Kim Jo-han (김조한), Jung Seung-hwan (정승환) and Kwon Jin-ah (권진아), among others, presenting varied performances.
A same-sex kiss scene between actors Ha and Nana is drawing intense attention.
In ENA drama “Climax” aired on March 30, the pair’s relationship shifted sharply in a scene that sparked a strong reaction.
In the broadcast, Chu Sang-a (played by Ha) came face to face with Hwang Jung-won (played by Nana), who had saved her as she suffered a panic attack amid suspicions she had instigated the killing of entertainment producer Oh Kwang-jae (played by Seo Hyun-woo). Chu learned, at the request of her husband Bang Tae-seop (played by Ju Ji-hoon), that Hwang had been monitoring and wiretapping her every move, but calmly conveyed forgiveness, saying, “I don’t trust anyone. You don’t have to feel sorry either.” A change was also detected in Hwang’s emotions, creating an unusual tension.
Chu shed tears as she recalled Han Ji-su (played by Han Dong-hee), who died because of Oh, and Hwang wiped her tears and comforted her, forming a special bond between the two. Chu then made a sudden move by kissing Hwang after mistaking her for her lover Han Ji-su, delivering a strong shock to viewers.

MBC drama’s official social media posted the phrase, “Hello, I’m Song Jung-won. We announce the first official promotional schedule for Prince Ian and CEO Seong Hee-ju,” along with news of an appearance on YouTube web entertainment show “DdeunDdeun - Pinggyego.”
In the drama’s setting, the Seungjeongwon is an institution that serves as the king’s secretariat, and it drew attention that this was also reflected in the real-world promotional method. It is a promotional strategy that expands the universe in a format that looks as if a character in the drama posted the notice directly.

Online users had also reacted that they wanted the two to meet, and responding in kind, YouTube channel KODE Code released a video showing their first meeting.
In the video, Namgoong and Jaemin described their first impressions, saying, respectively, “It feels like someone photoshopped me,” and “It feels like I’m looking at my dad.” Namgoong appeared to bristle but, after hearing Jaemin was born in 2000, quickly agreed, saying, “Then I really am the dad,” prompting laughter.
