[DigitalToday Ho-jung Lee] NCSoft will change its corporate name at a shareholders meeting in March, for the first time since it was founded in 1997.

The industry said on Monday that NCSoft disclosed a notice convening a shareholders meeting that includes an agenda item to change its name to 'NC'. The meeting will be held on March 26 at its headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

The name change is seen as aimed at ensuring consistency across the group. NCSoft has used 'NC' in its abbreviation and logo, and its affiliated entities already operate under the 'NC' naming system, including the NC Cultural Foundation, subsidiaries NC AI, NC QA and NC IDS, and overseas entities such as NC America, NC West and NC Japan. It is interpreted as an effort to boost brand consistency by aligning the parent company's name as well.

The meeting will also put to a vote an amendment to the articles of incorporation reflecting revisions to the Commercial Act, in addition to the name change. A dividend agenda item is also up for discussion. The cash dividend will be 1,150 won per share.

On the board, the company plans to vote on reappointing outside directors Jae-chun Choi (최재천), an emeritus professor at Ewha Womans University, and Eun-hwa Lee (이은화), head of RGA Korea, and appointing Seung-hoon Oh (오승훈), chief executive of Insight Group, as a new outside director.
