Samsung Electronics will add the Perplexity AI agent to its next Galaxy flagship. Samsung Electronics said on Feb. 22 it will equip its next Galaxy flagship device with Perplexity, a new AI agent.
The next Galaxy flagship device is expected to be the Galaxy S26 series. Users can summon the Perplexity AI agent by pressing the device's side button or using voice commands such as "Hey Flex". The company said users can carry out tasks by voice command without directly launching apps such as Samsung Notes, Gallery and Reminder through Perplexity.
For example, after summoning the AI agent with "Hey Flex," a user can say, "Add a reminder to watch Galaxy Unpacked 2026 at 3 a.m. on Feb. 26," and the task is completed without opening the Reminder app. The approach minimises user input while maximising output.
Samsung Electronics' own survey showed that about 8 out of 10 AI users use two or more AI agents on mobile devices. The survey was conducted online among 600 people in their 20s to 50s in South Korea and the United States.
Choi Won-jun (최원준), head of the development office and chief operating officer of Samsung Electronics' MX Business, said, "Samsung Electronics has expanded the AI experience on Galaxy devices and grown the AI ecosystem based on open collaboration." He said, "This has not only expanded users' choices, but by integrating agents into the platform so users can use them easily, we will lead the popularisation of the AI experience and provide an easier and more convenient personalised mobile experience."
