Neowiz said on Jan. 5 that action roguelite new title 'Shape of Dreams', developed by Lizard Smoothie and serviced by the company, has surpassed 1 million copies in cumulative global sales.

Released on Sept. 11 last year, Shape of Dreams sold 500,000 copies in about two weeks, showing rapid growth. It maintained its popularity through year-end and topped 1 million in cumulative sales. As of Dec. 31, it became a global million-seller about three and a half months after launch.

The company said the success was driven by the game’s distinctive gameplay. Its dynamic roguelite action that blends a MOBA style and real-time co-op play for up to 4 players drew a positive response from users worldwide. It also received an assessment that the changing stages built around a "dream" theme and new builds enabled by combinations of more than 150 items maximised the fun.

Neowiz also cited positive reactions from users and critics at home and abroad. The game scored 84 on Metacritic and 86 on OpenCritic, drawing strong reviews from experts. It also maintained a "Very Positive" rating from Steam users, succeeding in building a fandom.

User-focused communication was also cited as a key to its success. Shape of Dreams actively incorporated feedback from global users from the demo stage before launch. After release, it also carried out hotfix patches and continued service maintenance. In December last year, an update added official mod support through Steam Workshop and introduced high-difficulty challenge elements such as hard mode and a hidden boss, which drew a positive response from users.

A Neowiz official said, "Thanks to fans around the world, Shape of Dreams has established itself as a globally successful IP." The official added, "We will continue to manage the IP consistently and further support the game’s success by demonstrating Neowiz’s capabilities as a global publisher."
