Peter Steinberger (피터 슈타인버거), an Austrian developer who created the personal AI agent Open Clo, has joined OpenAI, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 15 local time.

Open Clo has gained popularity online in recent weeks by positioning itself as AI that actually carries out work.

Open Clo says it can manage schedules, book flights and even allow AI agents to participate in social networks.

Open Clo was initially called ClaudeBot, but after Anthropic warned of legal action over the similarity to its AI Claude, it was renamed MaltBot and later changed to Open Clo.

Steinberger announced his decision to join OpenAI in a blog post. He said he could have grown Open Clo into a major company, but added, "That is not interesting."

"What I want is to change the world, not to build a big company," he added. "Teaming up with OpenAI is the fastest way to deliver this technology to everyone."

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also wrote on X that Steinberger will "lead the next-generation personal agent." Open Clo will remain an open-source project under a foundation. Altman added, "OpenAI will continue to support it."
