Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has unveiled an in-app social networking feature called Orbit, The Block reported on Thursday. It aims to address trust problems prevalent in online trading communities.
Orbit will be preinstalled in the OKX app. A beta service will be rolled out in stages to some users from Thursday. Traders can discuss markets, run livestreams and execute trades in real time. They can also choose to disclose verified metrics such as portfolio performance, profit and loss, and win rate.
OKX Managing Partner Haider Rafique (헤이더 라피크) said it was the first time the app was introducing a native social channel where users can share ideas through posts, livestreams and group chats. He said he wanted to create a space where traders can share their performance and market interpretations.
OKX explained that it introduced Orbit to address a "trust gap" in social trading communities. In existing communities, traders often show off performance through screenshots or selective disclosure.
Orbit combines social media-style features with trading tools. It allows users to post market commentary and create public or private group chats. It also supports "cashtags" such as "BTC", "ETH" and "$SOL", allowing users to move from a post directly to the trading screen to place an order.
