KakaoPay Insurance has surpassed 10 million cumulative subscribers in 4 years since its launch. It added 4 million subscribers in a year after logging 6 million cumulative subscribers last year. The company said repeat use by existing customers also continued, with the re-subscription rate for its overseas travel insurance reaching 70 percent.
KakaoPay Insurance said on Oct. 28 that cumulative subscribers exceeded 10 million, 4 years after its official launch in October 2022.
The increase was driven by both new customers and repeat subscriptions from existing customers. Some 52 percent of all users subscribed to KakaoPay Insurance products at least twice.
The re-subscription rate for overseas travel insurance was 70 percent, and about 50 percent of users subscribed three times or more. The most active customer used the products a total of 82 times.
KakaoPay Insurance has expanded its product lineup from overseas travel insurance and mobile phone insurance to include driver insurance, infant and elementary to middle school student insurance, health insurance and pet insurance.
Its pet insurance, launched in March, exceeded 10,000 cumulative policies in 4 months and was selected as the top brand in the pet insurance category at the 2026 Brand of the Year Awards.
Insurance revenue also rose alongside product expansion. Total insurance revenue in the first half of this year climbed 83 percent from a year earlier, and monthly premium insurance revenue rose 147 percent.
KakaoPay Insurance CEO Young-geun Jang (장영근) said, "Surpassing 10 million cumulative subscribers in 4 years since launch is meaningful in that it is the result of customers choosing our products and services and using them again." He added, "We will continue to improve our products and services."
