[Digital Today reporter Jaewon Choi] Dario Amodei (다리오 아모데이), CEO and co-founder of AI company Anthropic, and Daniela Amodei (다니엘라 아모데이), the company's president, cited trust and honesty as key factors that enabled the firm to maintain a seven-co-founder structure. They said that even when opinions clash on major management issues, they have found common ground based on shared goals.

On Oct. 27 (local time), Business Insider reported that the two discussed Anthropic's co-founder-led management approach on the podcast "The Builders," released that day. The interview was recorded in July.

Dario said, "Seven co-founders share equal stakes and a vision." He added, "We often disagree on what safety measures to apply to AI models and how to respond to regulation," but said, "There is trust that everyone is trying to find the right answer, so we ultimately reach agreement."

Daniela also stressed that "honesty and trust affect not only relationships with employees but also the direction of AI technology development."

The remarks are drawing attention as Anthropic pursues an initial public offering. According to the registration statement (S-1) the company filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Oct. 26, the seven co-founders will secure 50.1 percent of total shareholder voting rights after the listing through a separate entity.

The structure is designed to allow the founders to maintain an advantage in key decision-making over outside investors. An independent Long-Term Benefit Trust, however, also has separate authority to appoint a majority of the board.

The co-founders also expressed an intention to use 80 percent of their respective stakes in the company for charitable purposes. The pledge is voluntary and not legally binding.

The registration statement also showed financial burdens. Anthropic's revenue last year was about $4.6 billion, and its net loss was about $42.0 billion. The net loss reflected in large part valuation losses on convertible securities and other items. In January to September this year, the top 5 customers accounted for about 25 percent of total revenue.

The company warned that if a major AI-related incident occurs, even the insurance industry's overall ability to provide compensation could have difficulty covering it. Anthropic is pushing for a Nasdaq listing in November, but the offering price and final valuation have not yet been set.
