[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Snowflake said on its official blog on Oct. 27 (local time) that it has partnered with Oracle and will offer Snowflake AI Data Cloud on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

The company said OCI-based Snowflake will be introduced as a native service that Oracle provides directly on OCI.

Snowflake has so far offered its AI and data cloud only through major cloud services Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

Through the partnership with Oracle, companies can use Snowflake’s AI, analytics, data engineering, transaction, application and collaboration functions close to data in Oracle databases and business applications.

Customers purchase Snowflake solutions directly through Oracle and pay costs through Oracle.

The two companies plan to support the use of data in Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, NetSuite and Oracle Database by connecting it with data in other systems.

Snowflake said employees and AI agents will be able to analyse work and determine the next steps using the connected data.

Snowflake said customers can build AI applications based on data under management and control, and can process it directly within OCI where Oracle systems are located without moving the data elsewhere.

OCI-based Snowflake also supports data engineering and data ingestion. It allows customers to manage data through role-based access controls and data access policies.

Snowflake stressed that corporate decisions are rarely made based on information from a single application. It said that to review financial performance, sales activity must be examined together, and inventory planning varies depending on supplier performance and customer demand. It added that AI becomes more useful when it handles such connected data.
