Malaysia and Thailand have joined Singapore's Bloom digital currency initiative. The Defiant reported on Thursday that Visa, Mastercard and the World Bank Group are also included among participating organisations.
The key task of this expanded participation is focused on a cross-border settlement framework and interoperability.
Bloom will address a structure that allows countries and institutions to link different payment infrastructures, The Defiant reported.
With the scope of participation widening, Bloom has strengthened its character as a multilateral cooperation effort beyond Singapore. The report did not include the specific roles of each participant or details of the digital currency's form.
