XLA8 unveils EventCAT Docent AI multilingual exhibition guide, to run on-site trials

XLA8, an AI simultaneous interpretation and translation company, said on Wednesday it has unveiled EventCAT Docent, an AI multilingual cultural commentary platform. The company said EventCAT Docent provides real-time exhibition explanations in visitors' native languages with subtitles and audio after scanning a QR code in front of an exhibition hall, without installing an app or using a separate device.

The company explained that artwork titles, place names and scientific terms are pre-trained through a Glossary function to improve accuracy. It added that guides and curators can directly train historical and cultural materials on an admin page and replace commentary content themselves whenever an exhibition changes.

XLA8 will also conduct trials of EventCAT Docent at four cultural institutions in South Korea, including Kyungpook National University Art Museum. During the trial period, XLA8 will analyse foreign visitor usage behaviour, language-by-language usage patterns, translation quality and visitor satisfaction, and use the results to build an AI docent operating model.

XLA8 plans to expand the scope of EventCAT Docent nationwide, from art museums, museums and science centres to cultural heritage sites and local festivals, by promoting a structure that can be operated only with mobile phones without hardware installation or rental.

Lee Sang-eun (이상은), CEO of XLA8, said, "Through EventCAT Docent, we want to support anyone, regardless of nationality, so they can deeply experience exhibitions and events from diverse cultures." Lee added, "Based on on-site data secured from this trial, we will enhance the service and expand cooperation with cultural institutions at home and abroad."
