[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] Ripple is expanding the use of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) within existing financial infrastructure by promoting RLUSD.

On Oct. 18 (local time), blockchain outlet The Crypto Basic reported that XRPL validator Vet forecast blockchain is changing the global financial structure and that the XRP Ledger will be one pillar of that transition.

Vet argued that skepticism about XRP’s potential stems from underestimating changes in the future of finance. "We live in a world people called sci-fi decades ago," he said, adding that tokenization, 24-hour trading, global access and censorship resistance are shaking traditional finance. He added, "New money has arrived," expressing confidence in an expanded role for the XRP Ledger.

The remarks come alongside a series of partnerships and service expansions Ripple has recently announced. On Oct. 15, Ripple announced it would work with Cross River Bank to integrate RLUSD into the banking system. The integration is designed to support transactions carried out on the XRP Ledger.

With the partnership applied, financial firms will be able to process 24/7 payments and settlement using dollars and RLUSD. Clients can access RLUSD through a single connection without separately building their own blockchain infrastructure. Ripple said the collaboration also targets support for international payments and remittances.

RLUSD is also growing rapidly in size. Ripple said RLUSD’s market capitalisation has topped $2.5 billion, with more than $1 billion of that issued on the XRP Ledger. It also pointed to RLUSD-based payments entering the banking infrastructure already used by fintech companies.

Services for institutional investors have also expanded. Ripple announced the same day it would launch a new trading service through Ripple Prime. The service is designed to let institutional investors trade traditional assets such as stocks, commodities and currencies in a market that operates 24 hours a day. RLUSD can be used as collateral in some trades, broadening its use in institutional finance. It is currently available in some markets, and Ripple plans to expand service regions.

On Oct. 14, Ripple disclosed a partnership with investment firm DriveWealth. The two companies agreed to pursue a plan to use RLUSD for payments and settlement and support investors’ cross-border movement of funds. The goal is to help overseas investors fund securities accounts more quickly without relying entirely on traditional payment networks.

Ripple has recently focused on linking blockchain services with existing financial systems. The XRP Ledger supports fast transaction processing, and RLUSD acts as a digital dollar in payment and financial services that adopt it. If adoption by financial firms and banks expands, use of the XRP Ledger could also increase.

The announcement is seen as an attempt to connect RLUSD beyond being a simple stablecoin to bank payments, institutional trading and cross-border fund movement. Ripple’s strategy to expand use of the XRP Ledger within real financial infrastructure is taking shape.

Reason i mentioned that all revolutionary things are invented by optimists is because the mid curving on XRP is rooted in cynicism about the future. We live in a world people called SciFi decades ago. Old finance is getting eaten up by blockchain technology in real time with tokenization, trading, 24/7, global access, censorship resistance. New money, folks! The XRP Ledger accelerates in this new future. I'm long on innovation and humans.
