Charles Hoskinson (찰스 호스킨슨), the founder of Cardano, said he is developing a new plan through Midnight to solve several unresolved problems in the cryptocurrency industry.

On Oct. 18 (local time), blockchain media outlet The Crypto Basic reported that Hoskinson said he has nearly completed the concept design and that it will be a "signature work" of his career.

He did not say what the plan specifically is or when it will be released. He said he could put forward "something unique" to the crypto market through Midnight. He did not confirm whether the project is directly linked to Midnight's previously known artificial intelligence (AI) trading plan.

The community's focus then shifted to questions about Cardano's development completeness. When a user asked whether Cardano had effectively achieved its core development goals, Hoskinson replied that it would once the Leios scalability upgrade is applied.

Hoskinson cited decentralised governance and development structure, a secure consensus structure, the eUTXO model, Plutus smart contracts and strengthened scalability as elements Cardano has pursued. He also said Cardano has strong security, supports different node implementations and has a structure that can evolve over time. He also mentioned that the number of ADA holders has already reached the millions.

Midnight is also expanding its scope beyond its existing framework as a privacy-focused blockchain. Hoskinson previously said in a discussion last week that "Midnight City" plans to support AI-based cryptocurrency trading in the coming months. Users would place funds in a wallet and set goals and strategies, and an AI agent would trade cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchains.

Midnight is planning a marketplace where AI agents can find and share trading strategies created by other users. It is also developing "Midnight Passport," an identity system that connects AI agents with real users. An initial version is expected to be released by the end of 2026.

Midnight is also adopting the Open Wallet Standard so AI agents can access wallets on multiple blockchains and other systems and execute trades. It remains unclear whether the new concept Hoskinson teased is an extension of this direction.

The remarks show that Cardano and Midnight are separating their roles while expanding in ways that interlock. Cardano has put the completion of scalability through Leios at the forefront, while Midnight has highlighted experiments in AI trading and identity systems.

"@Matthew74036833 After Leios, yes. It has everything I wanted to do. Decentralized consensus, governance and development, EUTXO, plutus, infinitely scalable, secure, built with formal methods, multiple independent nodes, recursively self-improving, and millions of people hold Ada."
