Shibarium, the Shiba Inu layer 2 (L2) network, posted 659 daily transactions, the lowest level over the past month.

On Oct. 18 (local time), blockchain outlet U.Today reported that ShibariumScan data showed 659 transactions in the past 24 hours, the lowest since Sept. 20.

The decline looks steeper compared with early this month. Shibarium logged 2,280 transactions on Oct. 15 before falling to 659 on Oct. 17, and it had climbed as high as 5,710 on Oct. 6. The drop points to slower activity across the network, but the ecosystem’s overall participation cannot be judged by this indicator alone.

Updates on the development front continued. Mazrael, a long-term SHIB community participant, said CreateX had begun operating on Shibarium. CreateX is a standard factory that helps developers deploy contracts to the same address across multiple chains, making multi-chain deployment on Shibarium easier.

Work related to secure wallet infrastructure also progressed. Shibarium deployed all 12 Safe v1.4.1 contract types to official addresses. Network usage fell, but the development environment and infrastructure continued to expand.

x402 also entered full operation on Shibarium. It offers two payment modes: an "exact" fixed amount and an "up to" option that pays within a set limit. The feature supports metered APIs and artificial intelligence (AI) agent payments, and AI agents can pay using SHIB, TREAT and wBONE.

ShibariumScan currently carries a notice that block indexing is under way and some figures may be inaccurate. The figures should be viewed with possible fluctuations in mind rather than with certainty.

The number of SHIB holders has increased by 2,495 since October. New wallets have continued to flow in even as the broader cryptocurrency market has not shown strong growth. It has not yet been confirmed whether the increase in holders will translate into higher actual buying demand.

Token prices are weak. SHIB was down 2.98 percent over 24 hours to $0.00000488 as of that day, and it fell 10.13 percent over the past week. Holder numbers rose and development updates continued, but the market is focused on whether Shibarium’s actual network usage recovers.
