Blockchain project Ontology restarted block production on its mainnet after it was halted for about 43 hours.

Ontology had previously stopped block production due to a security warning about a project in its ecosystem.

Defiant reported on Oct. 12 that Ontology said in a notice on Oct. 10 it received an emergency report about a potential security risk. Ontology said the risk was linked to an ecosystem project and could threaten network assets.

Many Ontology consensus node operators that approve new blocks agreed to suspend block production to help the investigation and reduce risk.

In its notice on the resumption, Ontology said its core infrastructure was safe and there were no lost funds on the Ontology network itself. The notice did not disclose the name of the project in question or details of the vulnerability. It also did not say whether the project or users lost funds.

Exchange transfers were also blocked. Bitget suspended deposits and withdrawals on the Ontology network on Oct. 10, citing wallet maintenance. It said it would announce the resumption date separately.

This was not the first time the Ontology mainnet has stopped. On Aug. 31, Ontology halted the mainnet after developers found security concerns during a daily check.
