[DigitalToday reporter Hojeong Lee] Pearl Abyss is delaying the release of the first downloadable content (DLC) for Crimson Desert, Charting the Unknown, by 2 weeks. The company said it determined it needed additional development time to provide a more stable gameplay experience.

On Sept. 30, Pearl Abyss said it adjusted the release date of Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown to Oct. 30 from the previously scheduled Oct. 16.

In a notice, Pearl Abyss explained, "We worked hard on Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown to deliver a new adventure on the continent of Paewell, but we determined that additional development time is needed to provide a more stable gameplay experience."

It added, "We sincerely apologise for the longer wait, and we will use the additional time to further polish the content and do our best to provide the best experience we can deliver."

With the schedule change, Pearl Abyss will secure about 2 additional weeks of development time. The company plans to focus during this period on raising the completeness of the content and providing a stable gameplay experience.

Charting the Unknown is the first DLC for Crimson Desert, which launched globally in March. Previously released information said it will add new content such as housing, an NPC affinity system, sailing and undersea exploration.

The DLC includes exploration elements spanning Paewell's land and sea, along with a narrative of a new adventure. Pearl Abyss, which has continued overall improvements and new updates since the main title's release, plans to introduce additional content through the first DLC.

Crimson Desert recorded first-day sales of 2 million copies after its global launch in March, reached 3 million in 4 days and exceeded 6 million in 83 days.
