OpenAI has added voice-based agent features to the ChatGPT mobile app. Users can use voice on a smartphone to handle tasks such as writing documents, drafting emails and summarising Slack messages.

TechCrunch reported on Tuesday that the feature also supports an environment in which users can start work on mobile and continue on desktop.

Plus and Pro users can create documents, draft emails or summarise Slack messages in the smartphone "Work" tab. These subscribers can also build websites, create presentations and use a cloud browser. They can also access finance-related areas within ChatGPT.

Free users and high users can use plugins and connected apps.

Voice chat has also been enhanced. ChatGPT provides richer text output during voice conversations. Plus users can switch easily between text and voice, and can also continue on desktop a conversation started while on the move.

OpenAI launched a new interactive model, "GPT-Live", in July and integrated it into its desktop app. Users could handle "Work" tab tasks by voice or create apps in the "Codex" tab. This update expands those features to the mobile app.

Anthropic recently made it easier to move between mobile and desktop and also integrated Claude Co-Work and its chat interface. OpenAI continues to operate chat and workspaces separately.
