KT has moved to target overseas markets by showcasing an AI agent and AI content production solutions at a global broadcasting and media exhibition.
KT said on Sept. 15 it participated in IBC 2026, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from Sept. 11 to 14. It unveiled AI-based next-generation media solutions and discussed cooperation plans with global operators.
IBC is a global exhibition where broadcasters, media and content companies, and technology firms from around the world take part to share the latest technologies and business strategies in the broadcasting and media industry.
At the exhibition, KT unveiled an AI agent, on-device AI, an AI Content Studio, an integrated UI management solution (UMS) and a remote management system (RMS).
The AI agent is a natural language-based conversational media service that allows users to find content they want even if they do not know the title or an actor's name. It searches and recommends content across YouTube, online video services (OTT) and Genie TV. It also answers questions about what is on screen or what is being said in a live broadcast.
On-device AI is a technology that runs an AI model directly on a set-top box. It provides AI functions such as real-time picture and sound optimisation on the set-top box without a cloud connection. The AI Content Studio is a solution that supports content planning and production. Its key feature, RE:Script, analyses large original intellectual property (IP) documents to derive story structures and core elements and supports script adaptation and script creation.
Shotpy is a multimodal AI that analyses video content to automatically generate highlights and short-form videos. It also reflects social media (SNS) trends and user response data to improve the quality of short-form creation.
KT, together with group affiliate KT Altimedia, also showcased UMS for pay-TV operators and RMS that supports AI-based fault prediction and remote monitoring. During the exhibition, it ran demonstrations of major solutions including the AI agent and on-device AI, as well as one-on-one technical demonstrations and business meetings for overseas operators.
KT plans to expand overseas applications of its media AI solutions and strengthen its push into global markets based on cooperation discussions held with global partners.
Yoon Jin-hyun (윤진현), executive director and head of KT's Media Technology Division, said, "Through IBC 2026, we were able to confirm the high level of interest from global operators in KT's AI media technologies." He added, "We will continue to strengthen our push into overseas markets beyond Korea, focusing on global-level AI-based media innovation technologies."
