[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] Japanese cryptocurrency exchanges SBI VC Trade and Bitpoint will stop handling a total of 9 cryptocurrencies. The two exchanges plan to phase out services from October, starting with purchases and recurring purchases, and then ending selling and withdrawal services in stages.
On Sept. 4 (all dates local time), blockchain media outlet CoinPost reported that SBI VC Trade will stop handling 3 tokens including Aptos (APT), Ethereum Classic (ETC) and Oasis (OAS). Bitpoint included 6 tokens: Build & Build (BNB), DEPcoin (DEP), Jasmy (JMY), OSHI token (OSHI), PEPE (PEPE) and Official Trump (TRUMP).
The two companies will first end purchase services for the tokens on Oct. 7. SBI VC Trade will end purchases at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 based on its spot trading at the sales counter, and will stop selling at 1 p.m. on Oct. 28. Recurring purchases will also operate through Oct. 7. Recurring purchase applications received by 6:59 a.m. on Oct. 7 will be executed the same day.
Bitpoint will end purchase services for the 6 tokens at 4 p.m. on Oct. 7. Its recurring purchase service will end after purchases made on the same day, and it will close acceptance of sell and withdrawal requests at 1 p.m. on Oct. 28. The tokens will also be excluded at the same time from a service that excludes application of taxation based on end-of-period mark-to-market valuation.
The schedule for ending deposit and withdrawal services differs by token. At SBI VC Trade, only Oasis is subject to termination of deposit and withdrawal services. Deposits of Oasis will end at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 and withdrawals at 1 p.m. on Oct. 28. Staking for Aptos and Oasis is expected to end with the October 2026 payout. This corresponds to rewards for September.
SBI VC Trade said Oasis holders can move assets to supported wallets if they complete withdrawal reservations before maintenance begins on Oct. 28.
At Bitpoint, acceptance of deposits for OSHI token and Jasmy will end at 4 p.m. on Oct. 7. Build & Build, PEPE and Official Trump have not offered deposit services, and DEPcoin deposits have been temporarily suspended since Nov. 18 last year.
Bitpoint will start withdrawal services from Sept. 4 for Build & Build, PEPE and Official Trump, which previously did not support deposits. Withdrawal restrictions may apply for a certain period to newly registered transfer addresses.
Any remaining cryptocurrencies not sold or withdrawn by the service end time will be disposed of by the two companies. They plan to convert the proceeds into yen and reflect them in customer accounts.
Both exchanges plan to sell remaining assets, considering market prices, with November 2026 as the target. They will provide separate notice once yen conversion and posting to customer accounts is completed.
This measure can also be seen as part of Japanese exchanges reorganising the assets they handle. However, because the tokens subject to termination, whether deposits and withdrawals are available, and the cutoff times differ by exchange, users holding these cryptocurrencies need to check each exchange's schedule individually.
In particular, users should note that Oct. 7 is the end of purchases and Oct. 28 is the end of selling and withdrawals. Users must decide before each deadline whether to sell their holdings or withdraw them to external wallets.
