Matter Labs cuts jobs as it shifts focus to institutional infrastructure

Matter Labs, the developer of the layer2 platform zkSync, has cut some staff, CEO Alex Gluchowski (알렉스 글루초프스키) said on social media platform X. He said the company has been developing products for regulated financial institutions since 2024 and has fully shifted its business direction to on-chain privacy infrastructure for institutions. The workforce reduction reflected the need to adjust staffing composition and size in response to changing customer demand.

Ethereum developers top 1 million, quantum resilience and L2 integration seen as next tasks

The cumulative number of contributing developers in the Ethereum ecosystem has exceeded 1 million, reaching 1,012,824, with about 232,000 active over the past 12 months. Joseph Chalom, CEO of Nasdaq-listed SharpLink Gaming, said no other blockchain ecosystem has reached that scale. He cited Electric Capital data and highlighted upcoming priorities including the 2026 hard fork “Glamsterdam”, cross-rollup synchronous composability and post-quantum security efforts targeting a transition around 2029.

XRPL overtakes Ethereum in RWA growth, reaching $400 million in 15 months

XRP Ledger (XRPL) is gaining traction in the real-world assets (RWA) market as its tokenised asset value expands rapidly, a report showed. XRPL took 14.9 months to grow from $10 million to $400 million in tokenised assets, faster than Ethereum’s 35.9 months for the same increase. Since the start of the year, XRPL’s tokenised asset value has risen 78 percent. Ethereum remains the market leader by size.
