Baek Kyung-hoon says onsite probes possible based on signs of hacking alone

South Korea can now launch onsite investigations based solely on signs of hacking, even without a company report, Vice Prime Minister and Science Minister Baek Kyung-hoon (배경훈) said at a parliamentary audit on Oct. 6. He said revisions to the Information and Communications Network Act took effect on Oct. 1. The amended law creates a review committee and allows decisions on probe scope and methods. It also strengthens penalties, notification rules and security governance.

Financial sector hacking spreads, signs of same attacker at seven firms

Hack attacks targeting South Korea\'s financial sector are spreading beyond commercial banks to savings banks and capital firms, with indications the same attacker is involved. Welcome Savings Bank reported an intrusion into a corporate customer-related system, with up to 2,200 records possibly leaked. President Lee Jae-myung ordered a thorough probe and countermeasures. Financial authorities held an emergency meeting and said related IP addresses were found across seven firms, raising the possibility of automated attacks using AI tools.

Lomin wins CSAP standard rating for document AI platform

Document AI company Lomin said on Thursday it has obtained the Korea Internet & Security Agency\'s Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) SaaS standard rating for its AI agent platform, Lomin. The company plans to step up SaaS supply to public institutions and aims to complete registration with the Public Procurement Service’s Digital Service Mall within the year. It also plans to expand SaaS supply to small and midsized firms.
