U.S. moves to expand overseas use of dollar-backed stablecoins

The U.S. government is reviewing steps to expand overseas use of dollar-backed stablecoins, a move the Trump administration is considering as a way to strengthen the dollar’s role as the world’s reserve currency. The review may include joint ventures with private companies and participation by multiple federal agencies, including the Treasury and State departments and the U.S. International Development Finance Corp. Officials also expect increased demand for U.S. Treasuries, key reserve assets for these stablecoins.
