GitHub limits pull requests to curb flood of low-quality code in AI era

GitHub has introduced a feature that lets repository administrators limit how many pull requests users without write access can keep open at the same time. The change is aimed at addressing a surge in low-quality contributions following the spread of generative AI, while keeping channels for outside participation open. GitHub said the cap can reduce unnecessary code reviews and continuous integration workload, and it is considering further automatic easing based on account and contribution history.
