FSS launches on-site inspections of Shinhan Investment, Kiwoom over JTBC corporate bond mis-selling
South Korea\'s Financial Supervisory Service has begun on-site inspections of Shinhan Investment Corp and Kiwoom Securities to determine whether there was mis-selling in the sales process for JTBC corporate bonds. The watchdog is examining whether the firms proceeded with issuance and sales while aware of the risk of JTBC’s deteriorating finances, and whether they sufficiently notified investors of risks and gave guidance suited to investor profiles. Retail investors are reported to have filed complaints.

Nvidia plans first corporate bond sale since AI boom to raise about $20 billion
Nvidia plans to raise about $20 billion through a corporate bond sale, its first since the artificial intelligence boom gathered pace. It disclosed the financing plan in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission without stating the size, while people familiar with the matter said the target is about $20 billion. Nvidia said proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including repayment and refinancing of existing debt.

South Korean financial authorities are accelerating efforts to tighten capital market discipline, pledging tougher action against illegal practices aimed at avoiding delisting and pushing for timely exits of so-called zombie firms. Korea Exchange will introduce rules from July to delist penny stocks and raise standards for dealing with weak companies. Regulators also plan to curb duplicate listings and tighten reviews.
