Broadcasting media commission adds anti-false reporting, non-regular worker metrics to broadcast evaluations
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communications Commission will newly reflect broadcasters\' fact-checking and efforts to prevent false reporting, as well as results in improving working conditions for non-regular workers, in broadcast evaluations. The commission reported a revision to rules on broadcast evaluation aimed at strengthening public responsibility and improving effectiveness and fairness. The changes are to apply from evaluations of 2027 broadcast performance and include revised criteria on internal fairness bodies and regional programming.

Bamito to overhaul broadcast evaluation rules from scratch

Broadcast Media Communications Commission grants conditional renewal to 17 radio stations including KBS, MBC Gyeongnam and TBS
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Communications Commission approved conditional renewals for 17 radio stations run by three broadcasters, setting licence validity at three years. The stations include 14 operated by KBS, two by MBC Gyeongnam and TBS Traffic FM. The commission said the stations previously scored below 650 points in renewal evaluations and underwent hearings under administrative procedures. It set broadcaster-specific conditions and said it may cancel renewals if conditions are not fulfilled.
