Anthropic Claude Code \'backdoor\' row raises hopes for Chinese AI coding tools
China has issued a security warning on Anthropic\'s AI coding tool Claude Code, raising the likelihood that Chinese developers will move faster to domestic alternatives. The National Vulnerability Database said some versions contain a security \"backdoor\" and could transmit location and identity data without user consent. Anthropic said access from China had long been prohibited under its policy. Local observers expect demand to rise for tools from ByteDance, Alibaba, Tencent Cloud and ZhipuAI.

Neocloud market shifts as SoftBank and Meta enter
The neocloud market for AI-focused cloud computing is shifting as major players enter. SoftBank Group and its telecom unit SoftBank plan to start a neocloud business next fiscal year, renting AI computing resources to U.S. companies. Meta is also stepping up plans to use its data centres for cloud services. Nvidia is expanding support for smaller cloud firms that lease its GPUs. Big cloud companies are also building forward deployed engineer teams for enterprise AI.

Z.ai launches Zcode coding agent for GLM-5.2 to rival Cursor and Claude Code
Chinese AI company Z.ai has officially launched Zcode, a free desktop coding tool designed for its flagship GLM-5.2 model, VentureBeat reported on Thursday. Zcode competes directly with Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and Google Antigravity. Z.ai said Zcode is the official development environment for GLM-5.2. It supports macOS, Windows and Linux, and can connect to third-party models.
