Tech Insight: Can Apple, which spends the least on AI, win the consumer AI war?
Amazon, Alphabet, Meta and Microsoft are set to spend $700 billion on AI infrastructure this year, far more than Apple’s planned $14 billion. Daniel J. Arbess, founder and CEO of private investment firm Xerion Investments, argues Apple is spending less out of conviction, citing its M5 chip and its installed base of 2.5 billion devices. He says Apple could strengthen its position in consumer AI while enterprise AI still requires data centre-scale hardware.
