Qualcomm targets mixed reality market with AI-powered XR platform
Qualcomm has introduced a platform aimed at dedicated chipsets for mixed reality devices. Qualcomm Technologies said it unveiled the Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, featuring up to 48 TOPS of on-device AI performance to run large language models and large vision models on the device. It offers higher GPU, CPU and NPU performance than the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 and supports up to 4.4K resolution per eye at 90 frames per second.

VR, AR and XR showcased together as MSIT holds Korea Metaverse Festival 2026
South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT is holding the 2026 Korea Metaverse Festival from June 10 to 12 at COEX in Seoul, showcasing trends in VR, AR, XR, digital twin and AI-based content. The event features 140 companies and 270 booths across governance, business, innovation and experience zones. It includes smartglasses trials, a global conference, a job fair and a graduate programme performance-sharing session.

Xreal unveils entry-level AR glasses a01
Xreal, a key partner of Google and a major player in the global AR hardware market, will launch its entry-level AR glasses a01 in the United States in July, starting at $299. The company introduced a new sub-brand, X by Xreal, and positioned the lightweight smart glasses around screen stability during movement and interchangeable front frames. The a01 omits DoF tracking and has no built-in battery, requiring a wired connection to a phone or laptop.
