King\'s College London secures early access to Google\'s Willow quantum chip
A research team at Britain\'s King\'s College London has secured early access to Google\'s next-generation quantum chip, Willow. The team was named the first beneficiary of an early-access programme run by Google\'s Quantum AI organisation and the UK\'s National Quantum Computing Centre. Led by physicist Eleanor Crane, the group plans to use Willow to model quantum analogues of brain neurons, aiming to link computational neuroscience with quantum-correspondence modelling.

Work by voice spreads in AI era as AI dictation becomes a tech battleground
As AI changes how people work, speaking rather than typing is taking a bigger role, with tech startups increasingly using voice to interact with AI assistants. The Wall Street Journal reported engineers at Ramp use gaming headsets to speak to AI, while Gusto co-founder Edward Kim encourages staff to try dictation tools. Etiquette in shared offices is becoming more important. Competition is intensifying among AI dictation apps, and Google has added an AI dictation feature, Rambler, to Gboard.

Google DeepMind releases one-year results for AlphaEvolve; DNA variant detection errors cut 30 percent
Google DeepMind released one-year results for its generative AI tool AlphaEvolve, highlighting measurable performance gains across multiple fields. In life sciences, it cut DNA variant detection errors in the DeepConsensus model by 30 percent. In power grids, a model’s feasible-solution rate for AC optimal power flow rose from 14 percent to more than 88 percent. It also improved disaster-risk forecasts, proposed lower-error quantum circuits, and was applied to Google infrastructure and commercial use cases.
