Vietnam to fine unlicensed crypto trading up to 2,810,000 won from Sept 1

Vietnam will fine individual investors up to 50 million dong for buying and selling cryptocurrencies on platforms not licensed by the finance ministry from Sept. 1. Fines rise to 100 million dong for trading cryptocurrencies allowed only for foreign investors. Operators running unlicensed crypto services or advertising without approval face penalties of up to 200 million dong. The rules also cover customer identity checks and account data handling, alongside a five-year pilot crypto market launched in September 2025.
