Elon Musk bets 100 billion dollars on Louisiana as SpaceX builds giant Starbase
SpaceX plans to invest $100 billion to build a large space launch complex in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, replicating and expanding its Texas Starbase. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said the project includes a Starship factory and launch pads. SpaceX targets a 2027 start and a 2029 first launch, while the state development agency offered a later timeline. The plan includes job creation, but environmental issues on Pecan Island could be a key challenge.
