New York state bans smart glasses in all courts, first in United States
New York state will ban smart glasses from all court facilities, becoming the first in the United States to apply such a prohibition statewide. From July 20, eyewear and head-worn devices equipped with cameras and microphones will be barred from all Unified Court System facilities, covering 1,240 courts. The rule applies to visitors, lawyers and staff, including prescription smart glasses. The move targets covert recording risks and reinforces existing bans on photography, audio recording and broadcasting inside court buildings.
