Toss, CGV to cooperate on facial recognition payments, seek rollout at cinemas nationwide

Viva Republica, operator of South Korean fintech app Toss, will work with CJ CGV to introduce its facial recognition payment service, FacePay, at cinemas. The companies plan to allow customers to pay with facial recognition for tasks including ticketing and concession purchases without using cards or phones. They will install Toss FrontCam cameras at CGV kiosks and link payment systems. Service will start at CGV Yongsan iPark Mall before expanding nationwide.

Toss teams up with Pulmuone Food & Culture to introduce FacePay at highway rest areas

Viva Republica, the operator of Toss, is moving to digitise payment environments at highway rest areas. It plans to introduce FacePay, a face-recognition-based payment service, and expand it to major rest areas nationwide. Toss said on Wednesday it signed an MOU with Pulmuone Food & Culture to improve payment environments. The companies plan to install Toss Front payment terminals and apply Toss FrontCam to existing kiosks.
