Japan\'s MLCC industry hit by China\'s minerals weaponisation, Samsung Electro-Mechanics emerges as alternative
China’s controls on rare earth exports are adding pressure to Japan’s MLCC sector and accelerating a global supply-chain reshuffle. Japanese makers such as Murata and TDK, which rely heavily on China for key MLCC materials, face rising sourcing risks despite efforts to reduce dependence. Samsung Electro-Mechanics is being seen as a major alternative supplier of high-capacity and automotive MLCCs. Analysts also point to improving profitability and a stronger share-price trend.
