Apple AirPods top global true wireless earbuds market; Samsung third

Apple held the top spot in global true wireless earbuds (TWS) shipments in the second quarter, as the overall market edged down. Research firm Omdia put global shipments at 82.1 million units, down 0.7 percent from a year earlier, weighed by a 9.5 percent drop in China. Apple shipped 16.8 million units for a 20.5 percent share. Open-ear wireless earbuds shipments rose 12 percent to 11.1 million units.

SKT expands runner push with Garmin and Shokz running devices

SK Telecom is expanding its lineup of smart devices for running and offering chances to take part in a running event. The company said it will newly introduce products from Garmin and Shokz, including Garmin\'s Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 265 GPS smartwatches and Shokz\'s OpenRun Pro 2 bone-conduction earphones. Eligible subscribers can receive device-installment discounts. SKT will also join as main sponsor of a Sept. 19 running event in Gyeongju and run a ticket draw promotion.
