Local AI agent feels more like computer program than friend
A user report says local AI can handle some personal and work tasks without uploading sensitive data to the cloud. A Verge reporter tested a self-hosted AI agent running on a PC, installing the open-source Hermes Agent on an M5 Ultra Mac Studio with 256GB of unified memory. The reporter used it for an email-and-calendar morning briefing, organising more than 400 Steam games, analysing financial records and drafting a comparison chart for an embargoed laptop.
