Coinbase outlines quantum readiness roadmap for Bitcoin, discusses signature upgrade and inactive coins

Coinbase has released a draft discussion for Bitcoin’s transition to a post-quantum system, urging early preparation for signature upgrades and fund migration. It said ecosystem changes could take years and should begin before quantum computers can crack cryptography. Coinbase backed separating output types and signature methods, cited P2MR (BIP-360) and P2TRv2 as candidates, and urged caution on stateful signatures. It also called for separate approaches to inactive, lost and key-exposed coins.
