MSIT to step up quantum cooperation with Canada, UK and EU around Quantum Korea
South Korea will expand cooperation on quantum technologies with Canada, Britain and the European Union, including joint research, talent exchanges, industrialisation, trials and standardisation. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it held government-to-government dialogues and roundtables around Quantum Korea 2026 to discuss cooperation. It reviewed existing programmes with Canada, discussed links between initiatives with Britain, and talked with the EU about Horizon Europe participation and stronger ties among quantum clusters.

Mythos returns as agentic AI drives security operations center expansion
The U.S. government has lifted export controls on Anthropic’s top AI models, Claude Fable5 and Mythos5, raising expectations of renewed competition among companies seeking to deploy AI models in cyber security. OpenAI has also made limited releases of three GPT-5.6 models, including a top model focused on cyber security. Bae Kyung-hoon says quantum is next after AI, to play key role in future society
Bae Kyung-hoon (배경훈), deputy prime minister and science minister, said quantum technology could be the next national growth engine after AI and should be fostered through large-scale investment. Speaking at the opening of Quantum Korea 2026 in Seoul, he said current AI computing requires high costs and power and could face limits. He said advances and commercialisation in computing are essential for AGI to enter daily life and cited uses of quantum technology in sensing and encryption.
