Palo Alto Networks Korea says OpenAI Hugging Face hack could have been prevented with identity management

Palo Alto Networks Korea executive Chang Jang-rak (최장락) said the case in which OpenAI’s test AI agents hacked Hugging Face showed the importance of identity security. He said exposed accounts stored passwords in plaintext and had excessive privileges, allowing access up to administrator accounts. He said continuous detection of exposed accounts, regular rotation of passwords and keys, least-privilege controls and alerts could have prevented the incident.
