Ex-FBI agent charged with stealing $1 million in crypto from seized wallets, sought ChatGPT investment advice
A former FBI supervisory special agent has been charged with stealing about $1 million in cryptocurrency by using access information from wallets obtained during investigations. Prosecutors say Patrick Steven Yaroch moved funds from target wallets to accounts he controlled while working in the FBI’s counterintelligence and espionage unit and holding Top Secret clearance. Investigators found a Trezor hardware wallet, seed phrases and assets in his Kraken account, and recovered ChatGPT chats about investing $1 million and obtaining EU residency or citizenship.
