Opera unveils new web standard WebAI to run AI in browser without cloud
Opera has unveiled a new web standard called WebAI that allows AI models to run directly inside a browser without using the cloud, TechCrunch reported. WebAI works with various AI models, including Google’s open-weight Gemma and, on Macs, Apple’s on-device foundation model. Opera has added WebAI as an early preview to Opera One and plans to offer it soon in Opera GX and Opera Neon. Users must enable the feature themselves.
