NIPA launches 2026 open source contribution academy, joining global projects

The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) said on July 13 it held the launch ceremony for the 2026 Open Source Contribution Academy on July 11 at the Korea Science and Technology Hall in Seoul. The programme supports domestic developers taking part in global open source projects through activities such as code development, feature improvements, documentation and bug fixes. About 260 mentors and mentees from 11 project teams attended.

MSIT to recruit 300 mentees for Open Source Contribution Academy

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will recruit mentees for the 2026 Open Source Contribution Academy from May 12 to June 14, it said. The practice-focused programme allows participants to contribute to real projects under guidance from leader-level developers. Applicants include students and developers with basic software development skills. Selected mentees will receive about 13 weeks of online and offline mentoring across 11 projects.
