Baek Kyung-hoon says he will step up investment to develop next-generation SMRs
Deputy Prime Minister and Science Minister Baek Kyung-hoon attended the 2026 nuclear industry New Year reception in Seoul on Friday morning and exchanged greetings with senior figures in the sector. The event, themed \"Nuclear power opening the AI era,\" drew about 300 participants, including Deputy Climate, Energy and Environment Minister Lee Ho-hyun and Nuclear Safety and Security Commission Chairman Choi Won-ho. Baek said the ministry would strengthen investment in next-generation SMR development.
