Anthropic acquires one-person bio startup, steps up rare disease drug research
U.S. AI company Anthropic has acquired Mithril Medicine, a biotech startup run by a single full-time employee alongside AI, and has moved into rare disease drug development. The startup used Anthropic’s Claude model to manage contracts, experiment schedules, logistics and data analysis, advancing two rare muscular disease programs to animal testing in under 18 months. Anthropic said errors also occurred and human safety and efficacy remain unproven.
