Silent Swap malware swaps copied wallet addresses to steal bitcoin, XRP
A new malware campaign has been identified that replaces copied cryptocurrency wallet addresses, targeting bitcoin and XRP among other tokens. McAfee Advanced Threat Research said it found the malware, dubbed Silent Swap, which uses browser extensions and a remote backend server to swap addresses in real time. The malware is distributed through unsigned .NET or Go installers often disguised as free or cracked software. Victims have been reported in multiple regions, with infections concentrated in India.
