Nexon to hold 1.8 billion won MapleStory global development contest
Nexon will hold a global development contest using its MapleStory intellectual property, offering about 1.8 billion won in total support. The MapleStory Global Development Contest is open to anyone aged 14 or older through the sandbox platform MapleStory World. Entries will be accepted from June 4 to Oct. 7. Nexon will provide training materials, a Q&A channel for experts and a networking community, and will introduce an MSW AI toolkit feature to support development.

Q1 breaks seasonal slowdown but polarisation widens in South Korea game industry
Major South Korean game companies posted sharply diverging first-quarter results despite the sector’s traditional seasonal slowdown. Larger firms with globally successful intellectual property reported record quarterly sales and profit, while companies facing gaps in new releases or weak early demand remained in the red or saw profitability deteriorate. Nexon, Krafton, NCSoft and Pearl Abyss posted strong gains. Kakao Games and Devsisters reported operating losses, and Webzen saw declines.

Nexon Q1 operating profit jumps 40 percent on MapleStory, Ark Raiders success
Nexon said it achieved its best-ever quarterly results on the back of global success for the MapleStory franchise and Ark Raiders. The company posted first-quarter consolidated revenue of 1.42 trillion won and operating profit of 542.6 billion won, up 34 percent and 40 percent from a year earlier. Overseas revenue rose 59 percent. Nexon provided second-quarter revenue and profit guidance and outlined partnerships and upcoming game launches.
