MSIT discusses national R&D system overhaul with university industry-academia cooperation units
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT held a meeting in Seoul on Thursday with heads of university industry-academia cooperation units, research office chiefs and officials from four science and technology institutes to discuss a planned overhaul of national research administration. The ministry briefed participants on key points of the 2026 national R&D administration reform plan and collected input on implementation. Topics included project evaluation, research allowance distribution, unified settlement standards, and stronger research security.

KT selects AI video creators to support young artists
KT said on Wednesday it has made final selections of 6 young creators in the AI video field through its Y Artist Label AI Video Contest and will begin full-scale activities. The Y Artist programme, run by KT\'s Y brand, has selected 46 young creators since 2021. This year KT expanded the programme to AI video. Winners received prize money and will join KT marketing projects, including collaborations with shared-growth programmes.

KT boosts World Cup fervour with Gwanghwamun cheering event to engage citizens
KT held the first Gwanghwamun cheering event for the 2026 North America World Cup with the Korea Football Association and the Red Devils, supporting South Korea’s national team. The company focused on broader public participation, including an AI-based programme using a media wall to generate messages and visual effects in real time. KT also arranged safety measures with stages, screens and more than 250 safety and medical staff.
