KT said on Wednesday it has made final selections of 6 young creators in the AI video field through its "Y Artist Label AI Video Contest" and will begin full-scale activities.
Y Artist is a youth creator support programme run by KT's Y brand. Under the slogan "Y shining as it is," KT has held an annual contest since 2021 and has selected a total of 46 young creators as Y Artists.
This year, it expanded the programme into the AI video field, noting generative AI technology has become a new trend in content production. The contest was held on the themes of the "KT Y brand" and "Y-dum benefits." A total of 271 AI video creators applied, and 6 were ultimately selected as Y Artists through evaluations by expert judges and a vote by Y Box users.
Prize money was awarded based on the Y Box public voting results: 1 grand prize winner received 5 million won, 2 top excellence winners received 3 million won each, and 3 excellence winners received 1 million won each. The selected Y Artists will take part in various KT marketing projects and content production activities. They will also collaborate with shared-growth programmes, including "Y-iro-un Store," which supports young small business owners.
The winning works will be shown on "KT Square," a massive media wall on the exterior of KT's KT West building in Gwanghwamun, and through KT's genie TV video-on-demand service.
Kim Young-gul (김영걸), an executive director and head of KT's Customer Business Division, said, "Starting with this selection of AI video creators, we will continue to discover young artists in various fields and steadily expand collaboration opportunities so we can grow together."
