Decacorn startups surge at record pace, 42 so far this year
The pace of startups reaching decacorn status, or valuations of $10 billion or more, has accelerated sharply, Axios reported. PitchBook data showed companies worldwide took an average of 5.5 years to become decacorns in 2025, down from 9.4 years in 2020. A total of 42 decacorns have been created globally so far this year, already a record. Axios also noted decacorn status does not guarantee long-term success.

Architect Labs unveils \'Redwood\' chip designed in two weeks
U.S. startup Architect Labs says it used AI to complete the design and verification of its in-house chip, Redwood, in two weeks, a process it said typically takes more than a year. The company said two chip architects set the overall structure while AI handled detailed design work. Outside experts called the speed impressive but said real manufacturing is the key validation step, and warned AI errors can still be costly.

KAIST hosts Discovery Loop\'s Jeff Dean, says human-AI collaboration delivers better results
Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) said it held a special lecture at the Seoul AI Hub on Aug. 13 with Jeff Dean of Discovery Loop, co-founder and CEO, co-hosted with a national AI research hub. Dean introduced AI’s development over the past 15 years and future research directions, saying more computing, data and larger models improved performance. He said human-AI collaboration can achieve better results than either alone.
